WATER AND LIFE
Water is the most essential resource for all living beings on Earth. Colorless, odorless, and tasteless, this miraculous element lies at the heart of biological and ecological balance, as well as human life itself. A large portion of the human body is made up of water: in newborns, this ratio is 75%, in children 70%, in adults 60%, and in the elderly, as low as 50%. While its role may change at different stages of life, its importance never diminishes.
Scientific research shows that a healthy person needs an average of 2–3 liters of water per day. Although part of this comes from food, the healthiest source of hydration is directly from drinking water. Coffee, tea, or carbonated beverages cannot replace water; in fact, they may even lead to further water loss. For this reason, the only true way to quench thirst and maintain the body’s balance is pure, natural water. The Ministry of Health of Türkiye also recommends drinking 8–10 glasses of water daily to help the body eliminate harmful substances and maintain fluid balance.
Even small losses of water in the body can seriously affect health:
A 1% loss leads to thirst and reduced performance.
At 3–4%, body temperature regulation is impaired, and physical capacity may drop by up to 30%.
A 5% loss causes headaches and fatigue.
Above 7%, the risk of fainting emerges.
At 10–11%, life-threatening consequences can occur.
Water is not only vital for individual health but also indispensable for the development of societies and the continuity of cultures. It preserves ecological balance, forms the foundation of agriculture, and plays a role in every aspect of life—from industry to culture. Blood is 92% water, the brain 75%, and muscles 75%. Water carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, regulates body temperature, removes toxins, and protects vital organs. In short, the continuity of life depends on the presence of water.
One of the key elements that determines the quality of water is its pH level, which indicates whether a liquid is acidic or alkaline, measured on a scale from 0 to 14. Regulations define the acceptable pH range for natural spring waters as 6.5–9.5. This range represents the optimal level for both human health and the preservation of natural mineral composition.
The healthiest way to stay hydrated is direct water consumption. As a biological solvent, water enables the dissolution and transport of vitamins and minerals; supports kidney function; moisturizes the skin; aids digestion; and contributes to energy metabolism. No other beverage can replace these fundamental functions of water.
In light of all these scientific facts, water is not just a drink—it is life itself. At Gürpınar Su, we consider it our duty to deliver this most fundamental need in its purest and most reliable form to future generations. By uniting the purity of nature with the highest quality standards, we support both individual health and the sustainable future of societies.
